Take a minute and put yourself in the shoes of President Obama. A year ago you entered into office with a nearly unprecedented level of support from the people and things were looking up. On the surface, it seemed like you could do anything you wanted to with this type of support. Fast forward just one year later. Cap and Trade hasn't happened and most likely won't. Health care reform turned into a field of political landmines that has destroyed your party and will most likely result in a crushing defeat for your Democrat peers in November. You failed to secure the Olympic Games for Chicago. You spent well over 700 billion dollars trying to save the economy only to watch unemployment spiral completely out of control. Feeling like a failure yet?

The victory of Scott Brown in Massachusetts was just another in a long string of failures that have happened since the day President Obama took office. Say what you want, the man has spent all of his political capital and has absolutely nothing to show for it. We are only one year into the term and you could make a case for this being the most miserably failed presidency in the history of the United States. Now Obama is having to do some soul searching for direction. How does he handle this house of cards that's quickly falling apart? With the State of the Union address happening tomorrow it seems like little will change. Obama will continue to fumble around pushing his agenda like the one mouse in the experiment not smart enough to find the food lever.

Now President Obama has the answer! Yes, that's right. This man always has an answer. None of them work, but he always has an answer. How about this one? Let's implement a partial three year spending freeze. That will be perfect! I just got done spending the economy to the brink of total collapse. Let's freeze what we just did! Oh, but there is a catch. The spending freeze will only save about 1% of the overall budget (to tell you just how far in the hole we are, that represents about 15 billion dollars). This is another classic leftist move. Obama is putting together an absurd plan that will do absolutely nothing. It's like if you ran out to the store, maxed out all your credit cards, and woke up in the morning to say that you would skip a cup of Starbucks that morning. Even if the spending freeze is implemented, it's so small it doesn't matter. It makes it sound as if he's doing something when he really isn't. It will make a nice bullet point in the State of the Union address but he has still in effect done absolutely nothing to correct the problems facing our budget and our economy.

How do you measure the success of a president? Handling terrorist threats? Obama receives a F. Having the economy flourish under your watch? Oh, look another F. Low unemployment? Another F. A strong dollar? Surprise! Another F! By just about any measure, President Obama's first year has been an utter failure. Now you propose this absurd spending freeze which will do effectively nothing. How stupid do you think we are? The American people are awake and we're paying attention. If it won't work in our checkbooks, it won't work in the government checkbooks. If you're going to propose a spending freeze, do it in a way that makes sense. Let's start by recalling all unspent stimulus funds and TARP money. That would actually make a difference though which is exactly why we won't even talk about it.
